Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our Doha team for comprehensive inspection of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, and lifting appliances during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases. The successful candidate will witness factory acceptance tests, verify equipment compliance with ASME/API standards, and ensure all mechanical systems meet operational requirements before deployment in demanding industrial environments across Qatar's major projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and boilers during fabrication, assembly, and installation phases per ASME Section VIII and API 510 standards
- Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for pumps, compressors, turbines, and other mechanical equipment
- Verify compliance of rotating equipment with design specifications, including alignment checks and vibration analysis
- Conduct load testing of lifting appliances, cranes, and hoists per applicable international standards and local regulations
- Review equipment material certificates, fabrication records, and test documentation for full compliance traceability
- Prepare detailed mechanical inspection reports with photographic documentation, deficiency rankings, and corrective recommendations
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited institution
- Minimum 7 years of mechanical inspection experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power generation industries
- Thorough knowledge of ASME Section VIII, ASME Section I, API 510, API 570, and API 650 codes and standards
- Strong experience with rotating equipment inspection including pumps, compressors, turbines, and electric motors
- Proficiency in reviewing equipment documentation, test procedures, material certifications, and compliance records
- Valid offshore medical certificate and safety training with API 510 or API 570 certification preferred
