Job Description
AETERNA Inspection & Technical Services is seeking an experienced Senior QA/QC Lead to oversee quality assurance and quality control programs across multi-country inspection projects. This role involves leading QA/QC teams, developing project-specific quality plans, and driving certification audits for international clients across the Middle East and beyond.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all welding activities comply with project specifications, codes, and standards including AWS D1.1, ASME IX, and API 1104. You will lead inspection teams, conduct welder qualifications, and maintain comprehensive inspection records.
This position requires a senior welding professional with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry who can provide technical leadership on complex welding projects.
As a senior leader, you will also contribute to business development by providing quality expertise during proposal preparation, support client relationships through quality assurance activities, and Lead pre-welding meetings and participate in welding qualification programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage welding inspection programs for major oil and gas capital projects
- Review and approve welding procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ) to code requirements
- Lead and mentor a team of welding inspectors across multiple project sites
- Coordinate NDT activities and interpret NDT results for welding quality verification
- Conduct welding inspections to AWS D1.1, ASME IX, and API 1104 standards
- Perform site audits to ensure welding quality compliance with project specifications
- Review and maintain welding inspection documentation and NDT reports
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and third-party inspection agencies
- Investigate welding defects and recommend corrective actions
- Lead pre-welding meetings and participate in welding qualification programs
Requirements
- CSWIP 3.2 or AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification (mandatory)
- Minimum 10 years of welding inspection experience in oil and gas or heavy fabrication
- Thorough knowledge of welding codes: AWS D1.1, ASME IX, API 1104, and ISO 3834
- Proven experience managing welding inspection teams and procedures
- Strong NDT knowledge including RT, UT, MT, and PT methods (PCN Level 2 preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with international project teams
- NACE certification for coating inspection experience is a plus
- NACE certification for coating inspection experience is a plus
- Willingness to work at project sites across the Middle East region
