Role Overview
AETERNA Inspection & Technical Services is seeking a skilled Materials Testing Technician to join our Abu Dhabi team. This role involves performing mechanical and chemical testing of construction materials including concrete, steel, and aggregates to ensure compliance with project specifications and international quality standards. You will conduct laboratory and field tests, verify material certificates, and support quality assurance activities across multiple projects in the UAE region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanical testing on construction materials including tensile, compression, flexural, and hardness tests on steel and concrete specimens
- Perform chemical analysis and positive material identification (PMI) using XRF analyzers and OES equipment
- Witness and verify material testing at accredited laboratories in accordance with ASTM, BS, and EN standards
- Review and verify mill test reports (MTRs) and material certificates against project specifications
- Manage material sampling, preparation, and tracking systems to ensure complete traceability
- Document all testing activities and prepare comprehensive material verification reports for project records
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Civil Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Minimum 4 years of materials testing experience in construction, manufacturing, or oil and gas industries
- Proficiency in operating materials testing equipment including universal testing machines and PMI analyzers
- Thorough knowledge of ASTM, BS, EN, and ISO material testing standards and specifications
- Strong understanding of material traceability, certificate verification, and quality documentation requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills for interpreting test results and preparing reports
