Role Overview
We are looking for a Junior Material Inspector to join our headquarters team in Sharjah. This entry-level role focuses on the inspection and verification of incoming construction materials including steel, aggregates, concrete components, piping, and fittings. The successful candidate will perform visual inspections, verify material certifications, coordinate sampling for laboratory testing, and ensure all incoming materials meet project specifications and applicable international standards before being released for construction use.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming construction materials including structural steel, reinforcement bars, piping, and fittings
- Verify material test certificates, mill certificates, and compliance documentation against project material specifications and applicable ASTM/BS/EN standards
- Coordinate sampling and dispatch of materials to third-party laboratories for mechanical and chemical testing as required
- Maintain detailed inspection records and material tracking logs in the quality management system
- Identify and quarantine non-conforming materials, raising non-conformance reports and coordinating with suppliers for corrective actions
- Support senior inspectors in material receiving inspections and contribute to the preparation of material inspection test plans
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, or materials engineering from an accredited institution
- 0-2 years of experience in material inspection, quality control, or laboratory testing within the construction or manufacturing industry
- Basic knowledge of material testing methods including tensile testing, hardness testing, and chemical analysis
- Familiarity with ASTM, BS, and EN material standards for steel, aggregates, and construction products
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate inspection records
- Valid UAE driving license is preferred for site visits to supplier locations and project sites across the region
