Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Inspection Engineer specializing in rotating equipment to conduct inspections of pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated rotating machinery throughout manufacturing, assembly, and installation stages. The successful candidate will verify compliance with API 610, API 617, and relevant ISO standards, review vendor documentation, perform dimensional checks, and witness performance tests to ensure equipment meets project specifications and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect rotating equipment including centrifugal pumps, reciprocating compressors, gas turbines, and steam turbines during fabrication and final assembly
- Review and approve vendor inspection test plans (ITPs), material certifications, and dimensional inspection reports
- Witness performance testing including hydrostatic, mechanical run, and NPSH tests per applicable API standards
- Perform alignment verification, bearing clearance checks, and vibration analysis during assembly stages
- Conduct site-based inspections during equipment installation, commissioning, and pre-commissioning phases
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation of all inspection activities and non-conformances
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution
- Minimum 3 years of experience in rotating equipment inspection within oil & gas or petrochemical projects
- Thorough knowledge of API 610, API 617, API 682, and ISO 13709 standards for rotating machinery
- Experience with precision measurement tools, alignment instruments, and vibration analysis equipment
- Certification in relevant NDT methods (UT, MT) and familiarity with ASME Section V requirements
- Strong communication and report writing skills with proficiency in technical documentation
