Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Inspection Engineer - Mechanical to perform detailed inspections of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment in accordance with ASME, API, and other applicable standards. The successful candidate will conduct visual and dimensional inspections, review design calculations and material certifications, and prepare comprehensive inspection reports. This role requires strong technical knowledge of mechanical equipment and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and columns for compliance with ASME Section VIII, API 510, and project specifications
- Perform inspection of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and gearboxes per API 610 and applicable standards
- Review mechanical design calculations, material test certificates, and fabrication records for conformity
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections during manufacturing, assembly, and site installation phases
- Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, non-conformities, and recommendations
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, and project teams to resolve technical discrepancies and ensure quality compliance
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical inspection within oil & gas, petrochemical, or power generation industries
- Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, API 510, API 570, and API 653 standards
- Certification as API 510 or API 570 inspector is highly preferred
- Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings
- Excellent technical report writing skills and proficiency in inspection management software
