Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Inspection Engineer - Electrical to perform inspection and testing of electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, cables, motors, and control panels in accordance with IEC standards and project specifications. The successful candidate will conduct visual inspections, witness testing procedures, review electrical drawings and certifications, and prepare detailed inspection reports. This role requires thorough knowledge of electrical systems and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, cables, and motors per IEC 60076, IEC 62271, and project specifications
- Witness and verify electrical testing procedures such as insulation resistance, hi-pot, winding resistance, and circuit breaker timing tests
- Review electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and material test certificates for conformity
- Perform visual and dimensional inspections during manufacturing, assembly, and site installation phases
- Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting findings, non-conformities, and recommendations
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, and project teams to resolve technical discrepancies and ensure quality compliance
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical inspection within oil & gas, power, or industrial sectors
- Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and BS standards applicable to electrical equipment and systems
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification and explosion-proof equipment inspection (ATEX/IECEx) is an advantage
- Proficiency in reading electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Excellent technical report writing skills and proficiency in inspection management software
