Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Audit Engineer specializing in Environmental Compliance to join our team. This role involves planning and conducting environmental compliance audits at project sites and operational facilities across multiple countries. The successful candidate will evaluate environmental management systems against ISO 14001, regulatory requirements, and client-specific environmental standards, identify compliance gaps, and recommend corrective actions. This position requires extensive international travel and offers the opportunity to contribute to environmental sustainability across diverse industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct environmental compliance audits at project sites, fabrication facilities, and operational locations internationally
- Evaluate environmental management systems against ISO 14001, local regulatory frameworks, and client environmental specifications
- Assess environmental aspects including waste management, emissions control, wastewater treatment, and spill prevention measures
- Prepare detailed environmental audit reports with findings, non-conformities, and risk-based recommendations for improvement
- Track and verify closure of environmental corrective actions and monitor continuous improvement of environmental performance
- Advise project teams on environmental regulatory requirements and contribute to the development of environmental management plans
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental auditing, environmental management, or regulatory compliance within industrial sectors
- Lead auditor certification in ISO 14001 with demonstrated experience conducting environmental management system audits
- Strong knowledge of international environmental regulations including IFC performance standards and World Bank EHS guidelines
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills in English; proficiency in Arabic or other regional languages is an advantage
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH Environmental, CEM, or EMA Lead Auditor is highly desirable
