ILI verification digs and direct assessment for a hydrocarbon transmission pipeline
AETERNA provided integrity management support for a hydrocarbon transmission pipeline operator. The program included in-line inspection (ILI) data review, excavation verification digs, and direct assessment to ensure continued safe operation and regulatory compliance of the pipeline system.
1,200+ anomaly features analyzed and prioritized
15 excavation sites managed across varied terrain
100% alignment with 49 CFR 192/195 and API 1160
ILI data identified multiple anomaly features requiring field verification. Excavation locations were in sensitive areas requiring environmental protection measures. Accurate correlation between ILI-reported and field-measured features was critical to ensure the integrity management program was based on reliable data.
Our integrity engineers reviewed ILI data to prioritize excavation locations based on feature severity and risk. We managed 15 verification digs with field NDT to characterize anomalies. Each dig included ultrasonic thickness measurements, MPI of girth welds, and coating condition assessment, with full correlation analysis between ILI predictions and field measurements.
ILI data analyzed to rank anomalies by severity, type, and operational risk factors
Systematic excavation program with GPS locating, NDT inspection, and coating assessment
ILI-to-field correlation analysis with defect growth modeling and re-inspection intervals
Measurable outcomes delivered through our technical expertise and commitment to quality.
